In keeping with Mr. Guidry's wishes, he will be cremated following his Mass of Christian Burial. A native of Weeks Island and resident of Jeanerette, "Slim" as he was affectionately known, passed away on Sunday January 5, 2014 at 7:35am with his family by his side. Slim never met a stranger, with a great sense of humor he was friends with just about everyone. He enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, and building models with matchsticks. His passion for cars took him to Biloxi, Ms. every year for the Cruisin' the Coast Car Show with his brother-in-law. Slim loved music of all kinds, just as long as it was played loud and the bass was turned up. Mr. Guidry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and the United States National Guard. Survivors include his children, Ronald Guidry Jr. and wife Lynette of New Iberia, Jason Guidry and wife Renee of North Carolina, Beulah Mathews and husband Thomas Sr. of Jeanerette, Melissa Guidry of New Iberia, Tina Landry and husband Lawrence Sr. of Jeanerette, Ronda Caballero and husband Mark of New Iberia, Karen Morgan and husband Keith of Jeanerette; brothers, Harold Guidry Jr. and wife Esty of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Michael Guidry of Missouri; sisters, Dale Broussard of Lydia, Ann Pagitt and husband Jimmy of Mississippi; aunt, Betty Eskind of Lydia; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Viola "Vi" C. Guidry; parents, Harold Guidry Sr. and Beulah L. Guidry; and stepmom Glayds Guidry. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pagitt, Jason Guidry, Lawrence Landry Jr., Thomas Mathews Jr., Zane Guidry, Jarred Slaughter, and Ronald Guidry III. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald Guidry Jr., Lawrence Landry Sr., Thomas Mathews Sr., Mark Caballero, Keith Morgan, Harold Guidry Jr., and Michael Guidry. The family would like to thank Dr. David Rinaldi, Dr. Stephen Boudreaux, and Paramount Hospice for all their care and compassion.
