Homer Cecil Martin, Sr., 83, born in Canton, Mississippi and a resident of Prairieville, passed away Friday, December 30th at his residence. Mr. Martin was employed with Kaiser Aluminum/ LaRoche Industries for over 38 years. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard, he was a member of The American Legion Post 0401, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Martin loved fishing and gardening but, above all else, he loved his family and Marie, his wife of 61 years. Survivors include his wife, Marie O. Martin; daughters: Pamela (Joey) Ray, Tammy Farlow, Rhonda (Timothy) Brooks; sons: Marty (Debbie) Martin, Homer C (Kristin) Martin, Jr., David C (Monique) Martin; and brothers: Reese Martin and Roy Martin. Mr. Martin felt beyond blessed with a large family including his children and more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than can be included here. However, Mr. Martin made each and every one feel special in their own way. He was generous with his love, time, advice, and life wisdom. His legacy will live on in his large family who will endeavor to carry on all that he taught. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, David V and Lizzie Martin; sisters, Shirley Gobiel and Jeraldine Sumrall, and brother, David C Martin. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 3rd, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church starting at 10am to 12pm with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. Fr. Jerry Martin will officiate. Burial will be at Hope Haven Mausoleum in Prairieville, LA. Friends who may not be able to attend may leave words of condolences at www.oursofh.com. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales, in charge of arrangements.

Aunt Marie, Pam, Marty, Tammy, Rhonda, Homer, David: You are all in God's hands now. Time will not wipe away memories but, in time, you'll be easier to accept the loss. I still think of my mom every day. You all will be in my prayers. God bless all of you.
