David Joseph Ingallinera, a resident of Sitka, Alaska, passed away at home on Sunday March 4th, 2018 at the age of 62. David was a funny, brilliant and true philosopher with his volumes of knowledge about music and writing; he could easily hold court as a radio voice, story man, humorist and DJ and often did so. David was a true Friend of dogs, the natural world and the many animals who inhabit it. It is appropriate that he died in the Chinese Year of the Dog. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Ingallinera, sister, Susan Lucia, husband Gary Thomas, nieces, Jacquelyn and Jessica Lucia Penouilh of Baton Rouge, brother, Thomas Ingallinera, PHD, wife, Debra, nephews Tommy, Tim and Tyler of Charleston, SC and brother Michael Ingallinera of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by parents, Lucy and Manny Ingallinera. You will be missed by your family and many friends that love you dearly.

David was a 21st century Socrates, an intellectual, nature lover, animal lover, music lover and friend. When I called him and asked could he send a nine year old La. girl a post card from Alaska for her school project. No problem. This planet, we all have lost a good man!

I am saddened to hear of one of my best friends, David, whom I knew from Broadmoor High, has passed away. Wish I had visited David in Richmond, VA, where my Dad lived for about 20 years, until moving back to native New Orleans to pass away. I am glad David made it so far away as Alaska, and hope that he passed peacefully, in a beautiful place.

David you were the best person and touched so many lives. Please give Lucy and Manny a big hug and kiss for me. I miss you so much. Been talking to Steve, John and David and it has helped me so much. Can't replace our phone conversations but it is comforting talking and texting with them. Love you forever

David, you became a part of my family when you were 17yrs old. You lived with us when you moved to Richmond Va., you were an attentive uncle and our first babysitter when Tommy was born. We loved you and you leave a huge hole in our hearts. We will always regret the distance that kept us from seeing you more often. Your nephews miss you greatly and are deeply saddened by your passing. Love always, Debra and the 3 T's.

David, You have set the bar very high with Your generous heart. For more than forty five years, I've had the privilege to witness just how deeply a human can show love and care for the people and animals around us. What a treasure it is to have experienced Your perspective and humor; this will stay with us for all of our lives. Thank You, David, a huge influence, a true Friend. Love.

So nice to read all of the memories and kind words. Dave and I have been in Sitka for over 21 years and I will be here forever. David loved the mountains, the ocean, the wildlife and our dogs, and we loved each other until the end. Peace to all of his friends and family. Love - Kathy

I can't begin to put into words how big a part David and his family played in my life in the 1970's. Through high school, through rooming together in college, to visiting in Richmond, I have countless memories, stories and shared experiences that are inextricably woven into the fabric of my life. He truly is a piece of who I am now. When we talked, a few months ago, he sounded so happy to hear from me. I am shocked, saddened, and crushed to know he is no longer with us. I will be forever grateful to have loved him as a friend and to have had the unique experience of having him in my life.
