A retired Fire Equipment Operator, he passed away at 3:03 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 62, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of New Orleans. Visiting at Scott's Bluff Morticians, Sunday, Nov. 4, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visiting at Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church, Monday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Pastor Clifford C. Conrad. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Linda R. Bankston; mother, Ida Harris of New Orleans; one daughter, Alanna B. (Jeffery) McCollum of Baton Rouge; four sons, Alfred Bankston, Jr., Arthur Raymond, Perry Franklin, and Earnest Gaines, all of Baton Rouge; sisters, Jacqueline (Harold) Fedison, Terri Harris, Sharon Harris, of New Orleans, Vanessa (Tony) McGhee, Bernadette (Malcolm) Turner, of Baton Rouge, and Terry (Clarence) Peaks, of Pensacola, Fl.; one brother, Darrell (Daphne) Jones of Augusta, GA.; three sisters-in-law, Wiliemena Williams of New Orleans, Deborah (Henry) Belin of Baton Rouge, Louise (Joe) Bowie of Baton Rouge; two brothers-in-law, Clifton (Jackie) Riley, and Rev. Michael (Treneda) Collins; one goddaughter, Halie Belin of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Jaxon McCollum, Alaysia Raymond, Christian Lucas, Ethan Gaines, and Azalen Gaines. Preceded in death by his father, Thomas Bankston; one brother, Alvin Jones; paternal grandparents, Willie and Bertha Bankston; and father and mother-in-law, Louis Jr. and Hazel Riley.
