Barbara Lee King Amedee died on March 21, 2013 at Ochsner Clinic Hospital. A native of New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Alonzo King and Blanche Williams King. She earned a degree in Fine Arts from Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia. She is survived by her much loved husband Wayne Amedee and her sister Anne K. Levert and brother in law John B. Levert. She is also survived by her nephew John B. "Trip" Levert and his wife Betsy, her niece Lee Levert and her husband Eric Hardy. Other survivors include her brother in law Hunter Sheridan, niece Janel S. O'Neil and her husband Tim, nephew Guy Sheridan and his wife Pam, niece Leah Sheridan and her husband Greg Reynolds, and nephews Andrew Sheridan, Colby Sheridan and his wife Gloria. She is also survived by her great nieces Zoe and Molly Levert, Simone Levert Hardy, Loren ONeil, Megan O'Neil, Stephanie S. Burnett and her husband Kyle Burnett and Rachel Sheridan and great nephews Ross H. Sheridan, Wesley H. Sheridan, Mitchell H. Sheridan, Evan H. Sheridan and William H. Sheridan. Barbara's professional career was as an art dealer. She began at the cooperative Orleans Gallery on Royal Street and later became director of the noted Galerie Simonne Stern. Her greatest achievement was establishing the first corporate art collection in New Orleans for Pan American Life Insurance Company in the early 1980's at their new home office on Poydras Street. She was a volunteer activist at the New Orleans Museum of Art as well as a docent and art collector concentrating on African and Contemporary Art. Relative and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering and reception to be held at the family home, 5954 Laurel Street on Sunday afternoon March 24, 2013 at 5pm with Father Donald Blanchard officiating.
