Betty Jean Peno

A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2014. She was 76 and a resident of Gonzales. Betty was a retired Stenographer with the State of Louisiana. Betty enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers and sitting outside enjoying birds and nature. She had maintained the flower beds of St. Theresa Catholic Church for more than 25 years. When she wasn't gardening she loved being around babies and the stove, where she was the family chef, providing an uncountable amount of meals. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa P. Braud; two sisters, Jo Ann P Dawson and Beverly P. Landaiche; three brothers, Theodore C. Peno, Jr., Ronald E. Peno and Gerald A. Peno; three sisters in law and a brother in law; three grandchildren, Fallon, Sabrina, and Shelby Braud; and five great grandchildren, Layla, Kenley, Adleigh, Josie and Kyleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore, Sr. and Alma Hall Peno; a brother, Robert E. Peno; great granddaughter, Sophia; and a brother in law, Clifford Dawson. Visiting will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Gonzales on Thursday, February, 20 from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial to follow in Prairieville Community Cemetery.
