Buddy Joseph Arensberg affectionately known as ""Gramps,"" of Mobile Alabama and formerly Baton Rouge Louisiana and Maui Hawaii, died surrounded by his family at his residence on September 8, 2017. Gramps was born in Atchison KS. Feb. 25, 1933. He married Donna Rose Gorrell in 1956. Gramps spent his entire life as a teacher. He taught at Central High School in Kansas City MO. He moved to Maui HI in 1971 and was a football coach, math teacher and Vice Principal at St. Anthony High School until his move to Baton Rouge in 1986. There he taught math at Starkey Academy and St. Louis King of France, before retiring close to his sons in Mobile Alabama. Gramps was quite the jokester with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of deep faith, a loyal son of the Church and he was loved by all who had the privilege to meet him. Gramps was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Donna Rose Arensberg. He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Julie) Arensberg of Mobile AL, Leo (Betty) Arensberg of Makawao HI, Chris (Terri) Arensberg of Lake Elmo MN, Pat (Connie) Arensberg of Mobile AL; his daughters, Mary (Jyun) Mishima of Lahaina HI, Donna (Robert) Hall of Baton Rouge LA, Maggie (David) Finley of Geismar LA; 31 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Viewing with Rosary will begin at 9 am, at St. Joseph Church in Mobile Alabama. Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10 am on September 16, 2017. Internment will be in Catholic Cemetery, next to his beloved Donna Rose in Mobile Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Catholic charity of your choice.
