Christopher Joseph Kabel

Christopher Joseph Kabel, of Denham Springs, LA, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 27, 1944 and was 68 years old. He graduated in 1962 from Istrouma High School and attended LSU. He worked for Evangeline Medical and X-Ray of Baton Rouge. In 1989, he founded Sunrise Garden Center, which later became Sunrise Landscape on Veterans Blvd. in Denham Springs. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Phyllis Newby Kabel, daughters, Christina Kabel McClendon and spouse Todd McClendon of Denham Springs, Michelle Kabel Smith and spouse Jason Smith of Walker, grandchildren, Abigail McClendon, Trey McClendon, and Sarah Smith, brother, Michael H. Kabel and spouse Katherine Kabel of Baton Rouge, sister, Gretchen Clune and spouse John Clune of Houma, sister-in-law, Margaret Kabel of Denham Springs, and lifelong friend, Kenneth Binning of Livingston, La. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Michael Jacob Kabel, Jr., and Beulah Anne Braud Kabel of Denham Springs, and brother, Lionel Kabel, Sr., of Denham Springs. Services were held through Evergreen Crematorium. A casual celebration of his life, to be held at his home, on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 from Noon until 4:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge.
