Clarence John Butler, Sr. departed this life on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Baton Rouge General Hospital (Bluebonnet). He was born on September 11, 1926 in Plaquemine to the late Henry Butler, Sr. and Evelyn Taylor Butler. On September 18, 1954 he married Ethel James and they were blessed with five girls and one boy. Clarence proudly served our country in the U. S. Army's Company A 143rd Chemical Mortar Battalion during World War II. Visiting at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 58165 Barrow Street, Plaquemine on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3 to 5 PM. Religious services at 6 PM, conducted by Rev. Lionel Johnson, Sr. Dismissal on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10 AM. Interment in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. Clarence is survived by his wife Ethel James; daughters and spouses, Dana Coachman of Lawrenceville, GA, Debbie Tillman (Leonard) and Yolanda Laws (Ernest) of Plaquemine, Shelly Grimes (Kelvin) of Lakewood, CA, and Lois Martins (Alfred) of Downey, CA; one son, Clarence Butler, Jr. (Sharon) of Henderson, NV; one sister, Gloria Washington, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
