Dorothy Ann Goodman Merritt

A resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away on Friday, November 30. Born July 29, 1920 in Osceola, Iowa, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, W.W. "Woody" Merritt, and parents, Claude and Marie Scheridan Pitts. Survived by sons, Stephen and wife Kathryn, Kent and wife Karen, and Michael, grandchildren, Charity and husband Keith Ford, Christian, Stephen and Lauren Merritt, and great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Cooper and Logan Ford. She graduated from Red Oak High School in Red Oak, Iowa and recently attended her seventieth class reunion. She graduated from Iowa State University and earned her Master's degree from Louisiana State University. During World War Two she was the Lab supervisor at Ethyl Corporation. A full-time mom and charter member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church, she also served as a Cub Scout den mother, was an avid bridge player, and loved LSU sports and entertaining with her supper club. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Visiting at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Monday, December 3 from 5-8 p.m. Services conducted by Rev. Ken Carroll on Tuesday, December 4 with visitation from 10-11am and services immediately following. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
