A native of Lobdell, La. and resident of Baton Rouge, he died of cancer at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospice/The Carpenter House. He was 81, a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War
and a retired Truck Driver for Franklin Press for 20 years. Visiting at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. conducted by Minister William Bates. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Marie E. Dunn, Stephanie D. Johnson and Gloria Davis; son, Kevin Earl Davis; sister, Danella D. Lilley; sister-in-law, Ora Lee Davis; 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia S. Davis; father and mother, Edward T. Davis and Annie L. Davis; daughter, Donna D. Fleming; and siblings, Edward T. Davis, Jr, Kermit Davis, Emily Davis and Augustine Davis. Pallbearers will be Albert Daniels, Greg Davis, Jerome Fleming, Edward Davis III, Obadiah Davis and David Roman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Davis, Edward Johnson, Elton Dunn, Jr., Paul Lilley and William Turead. Joe loved to dance. He loved everyone and never met a stranger.
