"Unk" was a competitor and a good guy. He was always a joy to play golf with as he never criticized others nor did he take himself too seriously. Unk took great pride in being a "Long knocker." He drove Nos. 1 and 10 at Webb Park many times. Unk was a great ambassador for the game of golf. Thoughts and prayers to Cynthia and family. God Bless Unk!!

Miss Cynthia, I am sad to here that Mr. Ellis passed away, I have good memories of him from my younger days playing gold at West Side GC in Brusly with my Grandfather Jules Durand. Hopefully they can now play a round together again. Please extend my sympathies to your family for me.

My precious friend, my heart broke when I read this. I can't imagine the huge hole in your heart, he was always such a big part of you! Some people are just bigger than life and Ellis was just that person. Please know you will be in my prayers.

I met Mr. Ellis first when he visited our plant to check our contractors to ensure that all were on Approved contractor's listing. I later watched him play golf in senior's tournaments over the years. Ellis was a member of our church at St. Patrick and I spoke with him recently. He was alway a gentleman who was proud and honest. He will be missed! R.I.P. my friend.

Unk was one of a kind and the last of the great generation of pros in BR, which included his brother Al and my Dad, Harry Neese. I am sitting here in Lady Lake, Florida viewing a black and white photo of my Dad sitting with Unk discussing Daddy's Baton Rouge City Championship win at Westdale Golf Course in 1960 (see attached). RIP Unk.

What a wonderful man Ellis was. I was honored to know him and Cynthia as friends, and to work with Ellis as a volunteer with both the Baton Rouge General and with The Hospice of Baton Rouge. He had a heart for helping others, and a smile for everyone he met. I am keeping Cynthia and his family in my prayers. Heaven gained an angel, but the world lost a precious Husband, Father and servant.
