A Celebration of Life will be held for Elsie "Joyce" Prejean on Saturday, June 14, 2014, 11:00 AM at Philadelphia Christian Church. She will be buried in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Omar Thibeaux will officiate the service. A native and resident of Lafayette, Ms. Prejean passed away on June 9, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was 69 years old. Left to cherish her memories is two sons, Howard (Otani) Prejean of Youngsville, LA, Clarence (Dion) Arceneaux of New Iberia, LA; three daughters, Veronica Buchanan of Rayne, LA; Monica Prejean, Shannon (Joseph) Clay both of Lafayette, LA, two sisters, Mary (Wilton) Noel, Penny (Warren) Prejean both of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren, Xavier Arceneaux Blackburn of Wichita Falls, TX, Brooklyn Arceneaux, Kelsha Arceneaux, RJ Arceneaux, Maison Prejean , Trinity McGee all of Lafayette, LA; two great grandchildren, Carmen Taylor of Lafayette, LA, Zayriah Blackburn of Wichita Falls, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Valsin and Mary Andrus Prejean; five brothers, Allen Prejean, Murphy Prejean, Algie Peter, Alley Prejean, George Prejean; two sisters, Effie Alfred and Ophelia Prejean. Viewing will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM at Kinchen Funeral Home. Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette is in charge of final arrangements.
