George Johnson went to be with his Lord and Savior quietly at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at home. He was 67 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Capital Funeral Home, 3450 North St., on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Viewing at Bethel AME Church on Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 9:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Herman Kelly Jr. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his brother, Albert L. Johnson Sr. (Rita); sister-in-law, Annie Johnson; devoted caretaker, Rose Joseph and son, Brian Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin F. Johnson Sr. and Georgia L. Johnson; brothers, Benjamin F. Johnson Jr. and Morris S. Johnson; and maternal and paternal grandparents. Pallbearers will be Joseph Dillon, Anton Richardson, Walter Howard, Thomas Boyd, Gary McKnight and Wayne Armstead. Honorary pallbearers are Albert L. Johnson Sr., Douglas Johnson, Albert L. Johnson Jr., Steve Johnson, Adolphus Dunn Sr., Reginald Davis, Byron Johnson, Van Ely and Brian Williams. George was a 1965 graduate of Capitol Sr. High School where he played in the Marching Band. He was a CB radio operator for many years and was well known as Running Water. He was a member of Bethel AME Church and The Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, PBS Pinchback Lodge No. 337.
