Greta (LeBlanc) Acomb

Greta LeBlanc Acomb, beloved wife of sixty years of Robert Bailey Acomb, Jr., passed away on September 1, 2013 at the age of 83. The mother of Robert Bailey Acomb, III (Kay), Dwight LeBlanc Acomb (Kirsten), Greta Marie Acomb, William Ryan Acomb (Judy) and John Douglas Acomb, all of New Orleans. The loving grandmother of Louise Acomb Smallpage (Jack), Margaret Acomb, Kathleen Acomb, Caroline Acomb, Catherine Acomb, Elizabeth Acomb, Ryan Acomb and Mary Acomb. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Dwight LeBlanc, Sr. and Alice White LeBlanc and her sister Marlene LeBlanc, who died during childhood. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Dwight LeBlanc, Jr. (Janie); her nieces, nephews and many friends. She graduated from St. Mary's Dominican High School, attended Newcomb College where she was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity, The Newman Club and graduated from Tulane University School of Business in its first class to admit women. She was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church, The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, The Orleans Club, Le Petit Salon and other social organizations and also served on the Boards of Newcomb College and The Orleans Club. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Mickey Edwards and all of Greta's devoted caregivers for their loving care and support over the past year. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 2729 Lowerline Street, New Orleans.
