Joan, Chuck, Amy, Kathy, Ellie, and Chris,

Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of your beloved father. Our dads met for the first time around 1961 when your family moved into our parent's rental house across the street from where we lived. Little did any of us know at the time how close the two would become over time and remain so until our dad died in 1995. Imagine our surprise to learn that your dad was called to his eternal reward on what would have been our dad's 86th birthday! S.T. must have called his dear friend home to be there for his birthday celebration in heaven.

Rest assured that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. May you find peace in the knowledge that your dad is at last reunited with your mother. He will live on in the lives of those he touched while on earth - including our own. Dr. Jack was a true "gentle" man, loyal friend, and great physician. Thank you all for sharing him with us (and particularly our dad) during his days on earth.

To the Winters Family(Amy,who I knew from the Office, Dr, Chris, who I knew from his Jesuit days, & Dr. Ellie, who I knew from her LSU Med days with Rita) & the rest: I met Dr Jack when he practiced @ Children's Hospital and except for a brief period was his patient until his retirement. He called me, "his child" every time we saw each other no matter old I was. I will never find a kinder man or doctor. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Dr. Jack was a wonderful & loving neighbor on Ehret Rd. & the sweetest surgeon to work with @WJGH in surgery. He was the most kindhearted physician when my daughter broke her arm. My husband & I both loved & respected him more than words can express. My best memories of Doc was when he would love to ride his old bicycle up & down Ehret Rd with a BIG smile on his face (always) & when he had to dress in the space suit in surgery w/big ole space moon walking boots that came up to his knees & when he & Dr. Kleinshmidt would bicker back & forth. He will be greatly missed but he will always be in my heart. My prayers are with Doc's family, just always remember the Great memories he left with you & he will always be alive in your hearts. God Bless You
