Jeanne Hyatt Atchison, a resident of Baton Rouge, 83, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Jeanne was born Gloria Jeanne Benson on August 4, 1929 in Vivian, LA. She was graduated from Gaston High School in Joinerville, Texas and later from the University of San Francisco. After working 30 years at Shell Oil Company, Jeanne retired and was a tireless volunteer at Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area for the past 16 years. She was recently honored by an endowment in her name for the Alzheimer's Safe Return ID program. She is survived by her husband, William E. Atchison, son Rick Barnett and his wife Judy, sister Barbara Brewster, granddaughters Jessica Rudolph and her husband Alan, and Rachel Bullock and her husband Danny, and great granddaughters Alyssa Barnett, Ashley Pinney, Gillian Diaz and Sophia Bullock and a great grandson Aden Rudolph. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Leo Benson, husbands Preston Barnett, Jr. and J.D. Hyatt, and sisters Peggy Benson and Patsy Blouin. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 5.00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation resumes on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Diann Atchison White. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
