John Donnell Smothers, Sr. entered into eternal rest on May 12, 2018 at the age of 47. He was the owner of Smothers Transports. Survived by his wife, Chiquita Thomas-Smothers; mother, Mary Lee Barnes; daughters, Ashley Smothers, Jasmine Thomas, Keonna Collins, Breunn Smothers, Kierra Harrison and Mary Washington; sons, Marquis Ricard and John Smothers, Jr.; sisters, Shannon Vessell, Shandron Vessell and Matilda Evans; brothers, Eric Barnes, Johnon Vessell and Donald Freeman; 7 grandchildren and 2 Godchildren. Preceded in death by his father, John Barnes, Jr.; sister, Chanta Barnes; maternal grandfather, Timothy Wheeler; paternal grandfather, John Barnes, Sr.; aunt, Betty Smothers. Visitation Saturday, May 19, 2018 9:00 am until religious service at 10:00 am, Interdenominational Faith Assembly, 5045 Greenwell St., Baton Rouge, LA. Chiquita and family I'm so sorry for your loss. May God give you peace and guide your direction. Mr. John was an inspiration to my son Ty'Von. Mr. John will deeply be missed. I know he is inspiring and coaching in Heaven.
