It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Kenneth Russell "Ken" Tackett, Jr. report his passing. He died suddenly of natural causes at his home on the afternoon of Thursday, June 7. He was 68, a native of Pineville and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Ken served in the Army Reserve, achieving the rank of sergeant, attended Louisiana Tech University, retired from the IT Department at Dow Chemical after 22 years, then worked as a realtor. A final farewell will be offered to family and friends on Tuesday, June 12 at Resthaven Funeral Home located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm, the service at 2:00 pm, conducted by his longtime pastor and friend Dr. Glenn Kirby. Burial will follow in the adjacent memorial gardens. Ken is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kristen T. and Eddie Manes of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Ellen and James Manes; sisters-in-law Debbie Tackett of Pineville, Susan A. Bush of Baker and Kim Bush of Bath ME; brother-in-law and wife Gene and Mary Bush of Tunica; nieces Susan White of Deville and Katie Hankins of Litchfield ME; nephews David Tackett of Alexandria, Jason, Matthew and Brennan Bush of Tunica; close friends and in-laws Tim and Linda Manes and Robbie Manes of Baton Rouge; his church family; numerous friends; and his fur-baby Sophie. Pallbearers will be David Tackett, Terry Evans, Ken Gardner, Ham Benson, Kirk Kanatani and Ryan Packard. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Tana Bush Tackett who died this past October; their 16 year-old son Russell Tackett III; their 17 year-old daughter Katheryn Tackett; brother Frank Tackett; and parents KR and Mildred Tackett. Ken was a long-time member, Sunday school teacher and officer of Cornerstone Church of God in Denham Springs, the former Chapelwood Church of God in Baton Rouge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10528 Kentshire Court, Baton Rouge, LA.

I am so very sorry for your loss it seems like yesterday I was talking to him at sweet Tana service my heart breaks for you.Kirsten really sorry I could not make it today as much as I wanted to. I know Your mom greeted him with open arms along with Katherine and Russ. I am praying for you all that God will wraps him arms around you. Love you.
