A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Laura Fontenot, the former Laura Stelly, age 79, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, followed by the Rite of Committal in the church cemetery. The Reverend Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass. Mrs. Fontenot, who was a native of Leonville and a resident of Port Allen, died on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Laura was the owner of her own cleaning service. She will be greatly missed by her family, and friends. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Fontenot of Port Allen; sons, Wayne Fontenot and his wife Marsha of Kentwood, LA, Kenneth Fontenot and his wife Lorraine of Port Barre and Jackie and his wife Cheri Fontenot of Port Allen, LA; daughters, Annette Moore and Becky Rolen, both of Port Allen, LA; brothers, Paul Stelly and Raymond Stelly both of Opelousas, LA; sisters, Elsie Devillier of Opelousas, LA and Annie Tate and her husband John of Grand Coteau, LA; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and two special family friends Tiffany Debord and Christina Neito. She is preceded in death by her father, Leonel Stelly, Sr. and mother, Clemence Richard Stelly and a daughter, Cindy Fontenot. The family would like to thank the Hospice Home Care nurse, Ersula Jones for the love and care that she provided to Laura. Visiting will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre beginning on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
