Laura Oubre Schexnayder, a native of Vacherie and a resident of Donaldsonville, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was 98 years young. Laura was a homemaker and a member of Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. Survivors include her children; Barbara Delaville and husband Don, Norbert Schexnayder, Jr. and wife Jackie, Wayne Schexnayder and wife Jeanne, Howard (Pep) Schexnayder, Jerry Schexnayder and wife Vienna, Betty Ann Cavalier and husband Joe, Arlene Gaudin, Ruby Naquin, Brenda Matherne and husband Greg , Glenn Schexnayder, Marcia Bridges and husband David, Kathy Dykes and husband Mike, and Bruce Schexnayder and wife Mitzi, 29 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert F. Schexnayder, Sr., her parents, and one great grandson, Tyler John Rodgers. Visitation will be Friday February 28, 2014, 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon, at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Yi celebrant. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum under the direction of Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to, Donaldsonville Area ARC, 1030 Clay St., Donaldsonville, La 70346.
