Leon Jules Caillouette, Jr. (L.J.), 71 years old; residing in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the time of his death, on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born October 13, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Leon Jules and Olga (Theobold) Caillouette, Sr. Preceded in death by his parents, and his two sons, Leon Jules Caillouette, III, and Clinton Caillouette. Survived by his partner of 18 years, Linda Hall, his daughter Betty Caillouette Brown (Cory), and two stepdaughters Brenda and Anna, two daughters-in-law, Lorrie Caillouette, and Taunya Caillouette, and five Grandchildren, Amanda, Katherine, Beth Ann, Clinton Jr., and Allison. Leon is also survived by his two sisters, Emily Castell (Harold), and Janis Gause (Ken). Also survived, by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Leon was honorably discharged from the US Navy after serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation during the Vietnam War. His career as a jeweler spanned 57 years; most of his life and career spent in New Orleans, Louisiana. A celebration of his life will be held at Schoen Funeral Home at 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. 70119, on Friday July 26, 2013. Visitation will be from 2:00pm till 4:00pm. A service will be held at 4:00pm till 5:30pm. LSU and Jazz Fest attire will be appropriate. A private interment will be held later at St.Vincent DePaul Mausoleum, for the family. I am so sorry for your loss. LJ was truly a New Orleans character. He was fun to work with. He always had a smile on his face and a story or joke to tell. He would talk with my Father about LSU and the Saints. We will really miss him.
