Leonce J. Millet passed away peacefully amongst his family on June 11, 2018. Born May 5, 1931, the son of Leonce "Hun" Mitchell Millet and Eunice Millet, he was a prominent business owner, active member of the community, and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed marriage of over 62 years to his loving wife, Joyce LeBlanc Millet. Known to his friends as "Dubby", Leonce loved LSU games, hunting, fishing, entertaining and having family and friends around him. As a member of the Arabian Horse Association, Meet, Eat, and Drink Social Club and a founding member of the original Ascension Parish Sherriff's Posse, he touched the lives of many and enjoyed spending time with the numerous friends he made. He began his business, Economy Brick Sales, in 1957 by selling bricks out of his car. A self-made entrepreneur, driven by hard work and dedication, he soon became a successful independent distributor who sought out manufacturers to supply the area with brick leading to the flourishing business it is today. He has served as a member of the Brick Institute of America. Leonce enjoyed giving back to the community and was an influential member of numerous organizations. Along with a few close friends he was instrumental in turning the dream of having a catholic school in Gonzales into reality. His Catholic faith encouraged him to become a founder and developer of the Catholic religious structures of Ascension Parish including the formation and building of St. Theresa Catholic School and the Knights of Columbus Hall as well as the formation of St. Mark Catholic Church. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2657 and a 4th Degree Knight, where he served in the Color Corps. He is survived by his daughters, Ronda Matthews, Aleta Millet Adcock, Paula LeBlanc and husband Kim, Jill Millet, Michelle DePierri and husband Bob; son, Dean Millet and wife Raelyn; grandchildren, Chris Matthews and wife Jamie, Jared Burch and wife Tiffany, Mikelyn Matthews, Alec Adcock, Jessica Martin, Olivia DePierri, Emily Millet, Danielle DePierri, Elise Millet; great-grandchildren Ty Matthews, Brinleigh Martin, Baelyn Templet, Molly Matthews, and Grason Burch; brother, Jimmy Millet and wife Gertie, and nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce LeBlanc Millet, father, Leonce "Hun" Mitchell Millet and mother, Eunice Millet. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home on Friday, June 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Mark Catholic Church, Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated by Father Rubin Reynolds. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Matthews, Jared Burch, Alec Adcock, Steve Millet, Pat Millet, Randy Lanoux, and Kevin Martin. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and heart-felt support from so many people. Donations can be made to St. Mark Catholic Church in his name.
