Louis Earl Sigur, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 2, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1943. After graduation, Earl proudly served in the United States Navy for three years in the South Pacific aboard the USS Gridley Destroyer during WW II. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy never left him, as family and friends will attest. After the war he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Tulane University. He worked for 33 years as a sales and marketing representative for Eastman Kodak. A man of profound character and integrity, Earl lived out his Catholic teachings in his every day life. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Nicknamed "Earl the Pearl" by his children, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Earl is survived by his six daughters: Alicita Sigur Collins and her husband Craig of Houston, Texas; Caroline Sigur LeBas and her husband Michael of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Margaret Mary Sigur of Houston, Texas; Anne Sigur Lovell and her husband Paul of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Michele Sigur Boatwright and her husband John House of Corvallis, Oregon; and Jennifer Sigur Hinton and her husband Jason of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was most proud of his ten grandchildren: Nicholas Craig Collins, Sarah Catherine Collins, Katelyn Adele Murphy, William Foster Murphy, Hunter James Lovell, Brennan Paul Lovell, Andrew Jerome Boatwright, Ashlyn Maria Boatwright, Briggs Nathan Hinton, and Stratton Lee Hinton. Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Alicia Chisholm Sigur; his parents, Louis Earl Sigur and Noemie LeBourgeois Sigur; and a sister, Marjorie Sigur Burwell. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM until the funeral Mass at 12 noon conducted by Father John Carville and Deacon Joe Scimeca at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 11441 Goodwood Blvd. Burial to follow immediately at Greenoaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude's Children Hospital. Pallbearers will be Craig Collins, Michael LeBas, Paul Lovell, John House, Jason Hinton, Andrew Boatwright, Foster Murphy, and Nicholas Collins. The family wishes to thank Dr. Norman J Deumite and Dr. David West as well as the entire staff on the eighth floor of Our Lady of the Lake Heart and Vascular Institute for the loving care and dignity they provided our father in his final days.

I have many wonderful memories of numerous good times spent in the Sigur household and with the family in Florida.
Mr. Sigur was always a consummate gentleman and devoted husband and father. Plus, he was lots of fun and made great daiquiris.
I know all of his daughters and their families will miss him terribly. But rest assured, he will be remembered by many people for the fine, upstanding, Christian man he was.
My thoughts will be with all of his "girls", and I will pray that you find peace and joy in your precious memories of your sweet Dad.
Much love to you all.

It was with great sadness today that I learned of Earl Sigur's passing. It has been over 30 years since I spent time with him, his wife and his wonderful daughters. My condolences to the entire Sigur family. While I did not know Earl personally, I do know that he was an amazing man being a member of the "Greatest Generation" and a WWII vet. Even more amazing is the fact that he raised 6 daughters! Michele, if you are representative of your 5 other sisters, your dad did an wonder job in raising all of you. However, I'm sure your mom a something to do with it as well. Thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

It was my honor and pleasure to act as a Guardian for Earl when we flew from Gulfport, MS to Washington D.C. so that he could see the World War II Memorial. I could see how much Earl was loved by his daughters when they flew ahead to Washington just so they could share this special and unique experience with him. Earl was surrounded by love and now he resides in heaven with the the love of his life so that they will spend all of eternity together. Go with God Earl!
