Louis H. Russell

Louis H. Russell, a Baton Rouge native and a Korean War veteran, passed away July 22, 2013 at 85 years of age. A 1945 graduate of Istrouma High School and a 1950 graduate of Louisiana State University in Civil Engineering, he retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Louis is survived by his wife, Nina Russell; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Kevin Colbert, Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Julie Russell, Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Luke and Noah Russell, Shanna and Charlotte Colbert; three nieces, Nancy DeWitt, Carol DeWitt, and Darlene Bollman of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie and Lloyd Russell; brother, Samuel Russell; and two sisters, Martha Russell DeWitt and Louise Russell Redd. He was a member of the American Legion and Fairfields Masonic Lodge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, will be 5pm-8pm, Wednesday, July 24, with a Masonic Ceremony at 7pm. Visiting will continue at 1pm, Thursday, July 25 until the funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, LA and Hospice in His Care in Baton Rouge.
