Mary Elizabeth Jones Polito

Mary Elizabeth Jones Polito, 62, of Lake Charles, LA died at 5:22 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Polito was born August 22, 1951 in Baton Rouge, LA, where she was a 1969 graduate of Baton Rouge High School. She was a 1973 graduate of Louisiana State University and received her Master's degree in Elementary Education and Remedial Reading from LSU in 1975. Mrs. Polito taught kindergarten in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, and Calcasieu Parishes and has lived in Lake Charles since 1976. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lake Charles and a member of the Liberty Bells. She was actively involved in activities with her children at Our Lady Queen of Heaven School, Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts throughout the years. Mrs. Polito was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Lake. She loved her family and always had a passion for children. Mrs. Polito also enjoyed shooting sports, hunting, fly fishing, and fishing at her camp in Big Lake. She was an avid LSU fan. She always put others' needs before her own; she will be missed dearly. Mrs. Polito is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Stephen C. Polito; sons, Charles J. Polito and wife Laura of Maurice, LA and Stephen D. Polito and wife Jessica of Lake Charles; mother, Bernice L. Jones of Lake Charles, LA and grandchildren, Stephen L. Polito and Isabella L. Polito. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald A. Jones. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles, LA. Father Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
