Michael passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at his residence at the age of 64. He was a resident and native of Port Allen. In his 20's he was the owner of San Souci Night Club and later owner of Kountry Korner Grocery Store located in WBR Parish. He was a decorated U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, who was awarded the Navy Cross with Combat V, Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was a Marine SEAL and underwent many covert missions. He turned down 3 Purple Hearts because he felt that he was not wounded enough. He still wore his dog tags daily in honor of his fallen comrades. Visiting will be at First Baptist Church at Grace Point, 4200 Rebelle Lane, Port Allen, on Monday, August 18, 2014, from 9 am until religious services at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Gray Pearson. Interment will be at the Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by wife of 9½ years Marion Otwell "Pokey" Coleman; mother, Bobbie Jo Weems Coleman; daughters, Chantel Williams and Erin Coleman; son, Michael "Cole" Charles Coleman; former wife, Darlene Babin Coleman; grandchildren, Britlyn, Austin, Elise, Micah and Judah; great grandchild, Ryland; sisters, Terry Landry and husband Bucky and Merri Dean Esneault and husband Daryl; brother, Gary Coleman and wife Tara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, W. C. "Bro" Coleman; infant brother, Darren Lane Coleman; and grandparents, William Charles, Sr. and Ethel Bowman Coleman and J.W. and Frances Wiggins Weems. Pallbearers will be Caleb Coleman, Garrett Coleman, Jensen Esneault, Landen Esneault, Rodney Hargrover, Lantz Landry, Ciro Lopez and Michael Stine. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Vitale and Preston Kees. He loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also loved to travel especially to El Salvador; when not traveling he enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was an expert marksman who earned many awards. Sorry to hear of Michael's passing. We grew up attending church and school together. We also played baseball for several years. He was a fierce competitor.
