Osma Joseph "Buddy" Tassin

Osma Joseph "Buddy" Tassin, a native of Avoyelles Parish and long-time resident of New Roads, passed away on Friday June 13, 2014 at the age of 91. Buddy was a WWII veteran and a member of the American Legion. Buddy was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and spend time in quiet solitude fishing from his pier on False River. Buddy and his wife, Ruby, founded Tassin's Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning business which existed for over 50 years. Visitation will be at St Mary's Catholic Church in New Roads on Monday June 16, 2014 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm. Entombment to follow in False River Memorial Park. Buddy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruby Juneau Tassin; two sons, Roddy Tassin and wife Roberta, Gerard Tassin and wife Patricia; three daughters, Janet Conger and husband Sidney, Joan Tassin, and Carolyn Smith and husband J. Ronnie, Jr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Osma Edward and Agnes Bordelon Tassin; brother, Freddie P. Tassin; sisters, Annette Cornish and Alberta Tassin; and grandson, Ryan J. Tassin. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Pointe Coupee.
