A retired mechanical engineer and resident of Wakefield, La., he passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was 86 and a native Manhattan, New York City who served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and the U.S. Army Chemical Corps following the the Korean War. Services will be Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville on Saturday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Roman Roldan. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by a daughter, Christine H. Campbell; stepdaughter, Colleen Hill; son, Roger M. Phillips; grandchildren, Hugh and Colin Wethered, Charles and Zachary Phillips, and Chevis Hughes. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Martin Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Chevis Hughes and Moon Mullins. He attended Michigan State University in Lansing, Mich., and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
