Peggy Jean Peter Chalaron

Peggy Jean Peter Chalaron, 74, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 6, 2017 after a brief illness. A memorial for immediate family only will be held in Madisonville, LA. Peggy was born in Madisonville on December 22, 1942 to Vivian Ochsner Peter and Philip Elmo Peter. She graduated valedictorian from Covington High School and continued on to receive a BA in Education and a Masters degree in Library Science from LSU. Peggy was married to Frank "Mickey" Chalaron on July 11, 1964; they were married almost 53 years. Peggy worked as a Librarian at LSU for 46 years; she was most recently the Head of the Education Resources Library. She also had a small antiques business, Rose Cottage Antiques, for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and birding. Peggy is survived by her husband Mickey, son Michael Lyons, daughter Andrée Ochsner, son-in-law Franck Hoffmann, grandchildren Elodie Claire Chalaron and Sebastian Philip Chalaron, niece Lizbeth Suzanne Peter, nephew Philip Michael Peter and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Vivian Ochsner Peter, father Philip Elmo Peter and brother Philip Ray Peter. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Companion Animal Alliance (www.caabr.org). The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to The Crossing at Clarity House.
