Sherry Lindsey Obituary

Sister Sherry Ann Bowman Lindsey was the fourth child of the late James and Lois Miller Bowman. She was born on September 29, 1948 and she departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Sherry accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Progressive Baptist Church by the late Reverend R. D. Thomas. She remained faithful to the call of Christ. As an adult, she continued her ministry through the Living Word Church of Houma, LA for 18 years, and also supported the ministry of her husband, Rev. Roy M. Lindsey, the founder and Shepherd of Mercy Ministries and the Church of Houma. When Sister Lindsey and her family relocated back to Baton Rouge, she continued to fervently teach and preach the Word of God. On her husband's missionary journey, they enjoyed worshipping at Hosanna Christian Center, Christian Life, Shiloh Baptist Church, Progressive Baptist Church and others as God directed them. Sherry was united in holy matrimony to Reverend Roy Malcolm Lindsey Sr. on May 16, 1970. To this union were born three children; Roy Malcolm Lindsey Jr., Tanisha Renee Lindsey and Jordan Christopher Lindsey. Sherry worked for Gulf Coast Family Services, and Casey Family Services, she was a Therapeutic Foster Parent with Gulf Coast Families in Houma and Office of Children Services in Baton Rouge. Her husband, Reverend Roy Lindsey Sr., her parents, James and Lois Miller Bowman, and her Godfather, Ab Hall Jr. preceded Sherry in death. She is survived by her daughter, Tanisha Renee Lindsey; two sons and daughters–in-law: Jordan Christopher Lindsey and wife Shannon Melissa Cambridge Lindsey, Esq., and Roy Malcolm Lindsey Jr. and wife Shajuanda Jobie Foster Lindsey and their children Judah R. Lindsey, Josiah R. Lindsey, and Jada R. Lindsey; her brother, James Bowman, Jr. and wife, Patriciana Mitchell Bowman; two sisters; Betta J. "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."-1 Thessalonians 4

I am so sorry that I could not be with the family but my prayers and love for all of you are always present.
