Willie "June" Adams Jr. entered eternal life on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 71, a native of Baton Rouge and former resident of Florida, where he met his wife, Doreatha. Willie was an active member of Serenity White Baptist Church, the Rev. Anna Joseph Phillips, pastor. He was a retired operator with Baton Rouge Water Works. Willie was a kind and gentle person who loved family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His door was forever open and his stories will be forever told for generations to come. Willie enjoyed many passions in life, but none ranked ahead of his family. Survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Doreatha Grimmage Adams, of Gainesville, Fla.; three daughters, Tammy Adams, Baton Rouge; Wanetta Adams Prelowe and husband Tony, of Texas; and Menyetta Adams, Baton Rouge; son, Kirk Adams, Baton Rouge; stepson, Jerald Grimmage, of Florida; five sisters, Gloria Adams Washington, Baton Rouge; Betty Adams Williams and husband Alex, Houston; Mildred Adams Howard and husband Richard, Zachary; Brenda Adams Veal-Walton and Valerie Adams Sparrow and husband Lawrence, all of Baker; brother, James Adams, Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Adams; father, Willie Adams Sr.; mother, Luada Anderson Adams; sister, Doris Cole Slaughter; and brothers, Nathaniel Adams and Kenneth W. Adams. Visitation at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., on Friday, April 29, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Anna Joseph Phillips officiating. Interment in Zachary Public Cemetery. Rest in eternal peace, June.
