Anna Dean Teague Obituary
Anna Dean Teague, 87, of Mooresville, NC, formerly of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at her residence. Born February 8, 1926, in Mexico, MO, she was the daughter of the late Paul Kessler Ballew, Sr. and Mary Malvina Towson, and step-daughter of Clarence Holt Lanctot. Dr. Teague began her teaching career at Hickman High in Columbia, MO, where she recently attended her 70th Kewpie Class Reunion. She was a Professor of Speech and Theater at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and the Director of Theatre at Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA. Even after her retirement she taught for ten additional years at St. Michaels High, Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Teague served on the Board of Directors at Baton Rouge Little Theatre and as President of the Anna Dean Teague Theatre Foundation. Dr. Teague was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and ADAH Chapter 258 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, LA, and Centre Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, NC, where she volunteered as an adult Sunday School teacher. Dr. Teague was an active member of the West Feliciana Parish Historical Society and an annual contributor and participant of the Audubon Pilgrimage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Oran Aubrey Teague and her brother, Paul Kessler Ballew, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jann Peck and grandsons, Trevor Holt Peck, of Houston, TX, Travis Taylor Peck, of Atlanta, GA, and Jordan Towson Peck, of Baton Rouge, LA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Centre Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be at a later date in Baton Rouge at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Iredell County, P. O. Box 1617, Statesville, NC 28687, Centre Presbyterian Church, 129 Centre Church Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117 or First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
