Arnold E. "Cookie" Lawless, a native of Crystal Springs, Miss and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at the age of 82. Arnold was a retired Staff Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. A member of Nicholson Post 38, he along with Les Lapham was responsible for the formation of the Legion's Honor Guard which does military duties at veteran's funerals. They wanted to insure any veteran that wanted military honors could receive them. It was an honor for Arnold to work with the honor guard. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 10am until funeral services in the chapel at 11am officiated by Rev. Michi Head. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Ryne Daigle, Scott Salinas, Eric Salinas, Joey Lemoine, Mike Lawless and Darryl Daigle. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Nicholson Post 38 Honor Guard. He is survived by his wife, Anita McIntosh Lawless, a daughter, Rita L. Daigle; three sisters, Joyce Spedale, Patricia Berry and Margaret Richmond; a brother, James Lawless; two grandchildren, Ryne Daigle and Brian Lawless; and one great grandchild, Kazilynn Lawless. Preceded in death by a son, Gordon Lawless, parents Carvin and Margaret Lawless, sister Sue Mitchell and brothers Ellis and Vester Ray Lawless. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet, especially the Nurses and PCA's on 4B.
