Carol McGee, at the age of 74, passed away at his home in Deville, Louisiana Saturday, April 6, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Unity Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Dubea officiating. The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday at Unity Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. He was born December 23, 1938 in Lincoln County, Mississippi but spent the early years of his life in Baton Rouge. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1956 and was a former member of Istrouma Baptist Church. He also graduated from Louisiana College and Louisiana State University and was a member of the Unity Baptist Church, where he previously served as a deacon. His love of reading guided his career as he worked at Louisiana College as a professor and librarian; and he retired from Central Louisiana State Hospital as a medical librarian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benton Curtis and Lessie Wallace McGee of Baton Rouge. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Benton Darrell McGee and wife, Jhola of Ruston; daughter Loriana Elizabeth McGee of Alexandria; his two sisters, Lavonne Lindsey of Baton Rouge and Patty Shirley-Verbois and husband Douglas of Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Emma McGee of Ruston; an aunt, Louise Allgood, of Brookhaven, Mississippi; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
