Byrde (BeBe) Haspel was an extraordinary influence in my life. She invited me into her family and home when I was a student at St. Mary's Dominican College back in the early 60's. I was friend and companion to Susan, her wonderful daughter. Byrde treated me as another daughter. I learned so much from her--about generosity, style, and charisma. Without her I never would have been able to finish college and go on to become a college professor! I miss her already. Mary Lowe-Evans
