Charles Franklin Mackey died at his home in Boca Raton, FL on Monday, May 13, 2013 of natural causes. He was born in Irving, TX on Oct. 7, 1920 and is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Blanca Arroyuelo Mackey. He is also survived by his four daughters: Judith (Gene) Dessel, Patricia (Stephen) Overstreet, Tracey Waddelow, Michelle (Michael) Heinle. 3 grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael) Dalmau, Eve Robertson and Brett Robertson: 5 great grandchildren, Jace Cobb, Landon Robertson, Charlie Dalmau, Elena Dalmau and Hayes Herron. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie Moran Mackey and his parents, George Alvin & Emma Gassaway Mackey. He is also survived by his cousins Melva Waggoner, Sally Van Dyke and dear friends Arne Hook and Norman & Kay Deumite. Charlie graduated from the University of Texas in Chemical Engineering in 1942. During WWII he worked on the Manhattan Project. He retired from Georgia-Pacific Chemical division in 1986 after serving as VP at the complex in Plaquemine, LA for 16 years and served on the board of the Louisiana Chemical Association. He was very fond of his G-P family and proud of their accomplishments. He and Blanca spent these last years between Boca Raton and Acapulco, Mexico. Charlie and Blanca were members of American Legion and the Salvation Army - Friends of Acapulco. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
