A native of Morgan City and resident of Plaquemine, "Chuttie" passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at his home. He was a retired boilermaker with Exxon Chemical with 38 years and 9 months of service and U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Monday, February 24, from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, celebrated by Rev. Gregory Daigle. Entombment in Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by son Charles Ray Champagne, Jr.; granddaughter Karen C. Langlinais-Mayeux and husband Randall; two great grandsons Andrew Charles and Trent Michael Langlinais; step great grandson Connor Landen Mayeux; sisters and brothers in law Marion Clement, Betty and Roland Fremin and Murphy and Mildred Breaux; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Pauline Breaux "Po" Champagne; infant son Ivan Michael Champagne; parents John and Adeline Comeaux Champagne; brothers John Champagne, Sr. and Joseph A. "Eyes" Champagne. Special thanks to his caregivers Barbara Mellion, Lameka Mellion and Janice Billings, Comfort Care Hospice and all of his devoted friends for their love and care.
