Dan passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at his home after an extended illness. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Dan was born on April 30, 1934 in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA and served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Dan graduated from LSU in 1959 and worked for General Motors as a District Sales Manager and retired in 1992. Dan was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and Midian Shriners. In his retirement years, he was an avid LSU baseball fan, following the team on many SEC weekends and seven College World Series. Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie Felps McGrew and two daughters and sons in law, Karen and Kyle Wagner of Madison, Mississippi and Dana and Jim Korry of Spring, Texas. He has 4 grandsons and one granddaughter: Matthew Wagner (Atlanta, GA), Nathan and Patrick Wagner (Madison, MS) and Sydney Marie and Brittain Korry (Spring, Texas). Dan is also survived by a sister, Ruth Wilfong of Lebanon, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Kay McGrew; his parents, Alton and Laura McGrew; 3 brothers, Calvin, Alton Dale and Mike McGrew; and 2 sisters, Linda Pearl and Rebecca Sue McGrew. Pallbearers will be Jim McGrew, Raymond Miller, Robert Ruffino, Matthew, Nathan and Patrick Wagner. Honorary Pallbearers are Brittain Korry, Frank Keegan, and Mel Keegan. Visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd. from 5 pm until 7 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, at 11 am with visitation immediately preceding at 9 am. Interment will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, at 3pm. The family would like to thank Dr. William Anderson, In His Care Hospice, and a very caring nurse, Geri Weber for their care and assistance over the past year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. An online register book is available at www.rabenhorst.com.
