Dorothy Eversmeyer Schuber passed away on January 2, 2013, at the age of 90. A life long resident of New Orleans, Dot was the beloved wife of the late Fred Joseph Schuber, Jr., for 68 years. Mrs. Schuber was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Henry Eversmeyer, Sr., and Golda Price Eversmeyer, her brother, Walter Henry Eversmeyer, Jr., and her sister, Joan Eversmeyer Haggard, and her granddaughter Lane Michelle Standish. She is survived by her four children, Fred J. Schuber III (Margaret), Susan Schuber Proper, David Walter Schuber (Suzanne) and Donna Schuber Buchanan; seven grandchildren, Sally Schuber Belenky (Erik), Scott Schuber, M.D. (Heather), Jeffery Standish (Ashlie), Susan Schexnayder Glueck (Ben), Katherine Schuber, Michael Schexnayder and Rebecca Schuber; and eight great-grandchildren, Maggie Belenky, Riley Standish, Miller Belenky, Jackson Schuber, Morgan Schuber, Ella Standish, Cameron Williams, Jr. and Patrick Glueck, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Tulane University with a degree in accounting. Dot was happiest when surrounded by her family especially her great-grandchildren. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was an accomplished bridge player, traveling to tournaments throughout the United States achieving the status of lifemaster many times over. An avid proponent of fitness, Dot participated in exercise classes well into her 80's. After her children were grown, her sense of adventure included whitewater rafting, snow skiing, and traveling in the family RV. Dot was a passionate LSU Football fan and rarely missed tailgating and attending home games. The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Mary Bird Perkins and Our Lady of the Lake, especially to Dr. Judd Patten, and to caregivers from A First Name Basis Rosalin Bell, Courtney Hynes, Cheylonda Cooper, and Rose Matthews. Their compassion and kindness were extraordinary. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at noon on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, or to the .
