Elma Lorraine Vicknair Warren Obituary
Elma Lorraine Vicknair Warren, 95, of Baton Rouge, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Franklin, Tennessee. Elma was born in Baton Rouge to Bazile and Eugenie Vicknair on May 19th, 1918. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School. She had a long career and retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Revenue. She was an active member of Istrouma Baptist Church and Parkview Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Elma served as president of the Women's Missionary Auxiliary and as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed writing, including numerous published poems and a biography of her beloved grandfather. Elma enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad, including a trip to the Holy Land. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Elton Warren; a sister, Elizabeth; a brother, George Vicknair; and a great grandson, Anthony Moreland. Elma is survived by sons, Elton Warren, Jr. and wife Judi and Ed Warren and wife Barbara; daughter, Ellen Sylvester and husband Emmett. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and their spouses; Eric and Lori Warren, Greg and Kim Warren, Kimberly Ma and Ma Min, Valerie and Tony Moreland, Warren and Sharla Sylvester, Kenath Sylvester, Rachel and Michael Nelson, and Hera Garcia. Additionally, she is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; Lea and Kyle Warren, Nicholas and Calvin Warren, Emma and Christine Sylvester, Robert and Raven Garcia, Holden Desordi, Tanner and Tayler Moreland and Elizabeth Nelson; and one great-great grandchild, Hallei Moreland. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and residents at The Manor at Steeplechase in Franklin, Tennessee, Sabina Totty In Home Healthcare and the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 9:30 AM until funeral service at 11 AM. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
