Frank Anthony Cannizzaro, a New Orleans hairdresser and beauty salon owner for more than 45 years, died July 2 at Ochsner Memorial Hospital. He was 79. Cannizzarro, the son of the late Salvatore Cannizzaro and Mary Guttuso, was born in New Orleans on July 22, 1933. He was a longtime resident of New Orleans East before moving to Mandeville following Hurricane Katrina. After serving in the army in Washington State during the Korean Conflict, Cannizzarro earned his hairdressing license at Moler Beauty College. He owned and operated Frank's Kenilworth Beauty Salon for more than 30 years. Cannizzaro is survived by three sons, Louis A. "Tony" Cannizzaro (Mare) of Puyallup, Wash.; Stone Cannizzaro (Megan) of Houston; and Joshua Cannizzaro of Slidell. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Justin, Aaron and Keri Jo Cannizzarro. Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Rose Cannizzaro and Angelina Donze-Cardarella. He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis Cannizzaro and Salvatore Cannizzaro; and three sisters, Felipa Cannizzaro, Phyllis Ann Holt and Rita Mae Cannizzaro. The decedent donated his body to science. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
