Frank Atkinson Obituary

Frank Schell Atkinson, Jr., a retired insurance agent, died on March 6, 2013, at the Haven of Windermere in Baton Rouge, LA. Frank was 84 and a 1945 graduate of Catholic High School and attended Louisiana State University. He was an Army veteran involved in combat during the Korean War. This service also included a tour of duty in the county of Panama. Frank and his beloved wife, Wanda Beth, were ministers of Holy Communion at St. Joseph Cathedral during the 1980's and 1990's, serving that community under the leadership of Fathers Uter, Young, and Counce. Frank and Wanda Beth have been dedicated followers of Jesus Christ through the Holy Catholic Church during their lifetime. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda Beth Babin; step-children Jay Marshall and wife, Mary Ann; Richard Marshall and wife, Mel; Robin Haile and husband, John and Kathy Marshall of Oakton, VA; sister-in-law Sister Kathleen Babin CSJ, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. John and Brenda Atkinson, Daniel R. and Jimmie Carol Atkinson; numerous step grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank S. Sr. and Marguerite Barfield Atkinson; his parents-in-law, Ferbos and Eunice Babin; and his son, Frank S. Atkinson, III. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, March 9 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 am. The Reverend Joel LaBauve will preside. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School, St. Joseph's Academy or St. Joseph Cathedral. The family especially wishes to thank Barbara, Carlett, Niesha, and Janice for their loving care and attention to Frank. Special thanks also to Toni Duplantis, R.N., C.M. and Carmen Francois, L.P.N. of Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge, true angels of love and care.

So sorry for y'all loss. Mr. Frank was the most loving and caring man I ever met. He was so good to my mom when she was at Sunrise with them. Always a smile on his face and a kind word from his heart. Missed them so when they left. Will remember him always and keep him and Ms Wanda in my prayers.
