Hollis H. Tate, Jr., 92, passed away on November 20, 2013 in Baton Rouge. He passed peacefully with his children at his side. He was born in Baton Rouge on September 16, 1921 and graduated from Baton Rouge High School and Louisiana State University. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force as part of the "greatest generation". He worked at Exxon Refinery until his retirement in 1982. While at L.S.U., he was a member of the L.S.U. Marching Band. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma B. Tate, and his parents, Hollis H. Tate, Sr. and Kathleen Cox Tate. He is survived by his wife Patricia D. Tate, his children Evelyn "Cookie" Tate, Perry Tate and wife Linda, Kevin Tate and wife Robyn, and Julie Tate and husband Keith Degraw. Also survived by his grandchildren, Janet Floyd, Allison T. Zeringue, Melissa T. Zeringue, Natalie Boudreaux, Grant Boudreaux, and Kameron Tate. Also, great-grandchildren, Brady and Braxton Floyd, & Lily and Ava Zeringue. Also survived by step-children, Debbie Walker and Mark Willie. Pallbearers will be Perry Tate, Kevin Tate, Grant Boudreaux, Kameron Tate, Mark Willie, and Barry Zeringue, Jr. Visiting will be on Thursday, November 21 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East. Visiting resumes on Friday, November 22 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
