James ""Jim"" Murry Lain, Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the Baton Rouge General Hospital on March 29, 2014 at the age of 94. Jim was born in Joyce, La on December 28, 1919. He was a graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria and Louisiana State University, 1950. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Radioman, First Class, in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Bridge, USS Medusa, USS Pakana and the USS PCS 1403. He was a long time businessman and Co-Owner of Capital American Acceptance Corporation in Baton Rouge. He was past President of the Lenders Exchange of Baton Rouge, past President and Board Member of the Credit Bureau of Baton Rouge and past Director, International Consumer Credit Association. He was a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge. ""Popie"" loved playing with his two grandsons and four great grandchildren, Jim was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joy Christian Lain; a daughter, Christie Lain Cloy and husband Richard; two grandsons, Lain Cloy and wife Amber and Reid Cloy and wife Lauren, of Keller, Texas; great grandchildren, Addyson, Cason, Auldon and Griffin Cloy. sister, Jeanette Swafford of Fort Smith Arkansas, brother-in-law, Percy Christian and wife Wilda of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Murry Lain, Sr.; mother, Priscilla Harveston Lain McCann; stepfather, Reverend James B. McCann; and brother, Alva Harold ""Cotton"" Lain. Pallbearers are Lain Cloy, Reid Cloy, Clint Cloy, Van Christian, Dr. Kenneth Gaddis and Dr. Douglas Davidson. The family would like to thank their nephew Dr. Kenneth Gaddis and friend Dr. Douglas Davidson for their loving counsel and support. Visitation and services will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Services will follow at 11:00 am, conducted by Reverend Ken Carroll of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memory.
