Estes, Jerry Allen, 72, a native of Minden, LA died on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home in Jackson, LA. He owned and operated Jackson IGA Supermarket from 1969 to 1988 and retired from Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola) where he worked from November 9, 1988 until January 30, 2007 as a Classification Manager after working his way up to it. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Clinton on Wednesday November 6, 2013 from 830 am until 1030 am. Followed by an 11:00 am graveside service at Jackson Cemetery in Jackson, LA conducted by Bro. Walt Geter. He is survived by his daughter, Karissa "Kae" Estes of Jackson, sons, Victor A. Estes and wife Teresa of Daleville, AL and Lee E. Estes and wife Amy of Osan Air Base, South Korea, sisters, Gail E. Parrenin of Jackson and Barbara J. Estes of Converse, TX, grandchildren, Zachary E. Estes, Lily A. Estes, Audrey D. Estes and Samuel P. Estes. He was preceded in death by his wife, P. Joyce Estes, son, Morgan Lane Estes, father, Julius A. Estes, mother, Trilby W. Estes, sister, Judith A. Estes and brother in law, Nolan J. Parrenin, Jr. Pallbearers will be Lee Estes, Victor Estes, Nolan J. Parrenin,III, Scotty Dawson, Peter Guiterrez and Rafe Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Richardson and Robin McConnell. Jerry graduated from McKowen High School in 1959 in Jackson, LA, graduated with a BS in Business from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA in 1963, served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, 1964-1969, Navigator of a KC-135 Tanker. He was an avid book reader, loved designing and building computer systems and a longtime member of VFW. For memorial donations, please donate to your local VFW Chapter.
