Lawrence J. Cornett "L.J." native and resident of Head of Island, LA passed away at 5:25 am on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at his home at the age of 85. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Visitation on Thursday, July 24th at Ascension Funeral Home from 5pm until 9pm, Rosary will be at 7pm. Visitation will continue Friday, July 25th at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am conducted by Rev. Jason Palermo and Deacon Jimmy Little. Interment will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Head of Island. Survivors: his loving wife of 65 years: Agnes B. Cornett, 2 daughters; Janice Cornett Tullier, Beverly Cornett Lambert and husband Randy. 4 sons; Larry J. Cornett and wife Mary, Joseph Earl "P-Nut" Cornett and wife Penny, Gary P. Cornett and wife Linda, Kenny J. Cornett and wife Danielle. Grandchildren: Shantay, Rani, Denny, Troy, Tasha, Rhett, Rachel, Ashley, Amber, Joey, Jeffrey, Ryan, Jas, Madison, Tanil, Blaise, Ken Jr., Brandi and Brett and 41 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents: Joseph Emile and Adele Brown Cornett. Sisters: Addie Patterson, Inez Elliser, Jestine Berthelot. Brothers: Emile Cornett, Joseph Earl Cornett, Avery "Black" Cornett Sr., Alfred Cornett, mother in law: Anniese Sanchez Bourgeois, grandchildren: Shalon Gail Cornett, Jamon Blaze Cornett, daughter in law: Cheryl Chauvin Cornett. Pallbearers will be grandson: Rhett, Joey, Jeffery, Troy, Denny, Ken Jr., Blaise, Jas He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement, Charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 6753 in French Settlement and was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus.
