Mark Barton Obituary

Mark Barton passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2013 in Baton Rouge, LA. Mark was born in San Francisco on April 6, 1960, graduated in 1979 from Santa Rosa High School and attended Santa Rosa JC and Napa Valley colleges. Mark served his country in the Marine Corps with assignments in Japan and Camp Pendleton, CA. Mark had a great love for the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He fished as far away as New Zealand and loved his fishing camp in Cocodrie, Louisiana where he fished with his children and family. He enjoyed hunting in Oregon, Montana and in the South. Those activities surrounded Mark with many friends in Santa Rosa and later in Baton Rouge. He loved LSU baseball, Giants and A's. He was an amazing cook and grill master and created so many of his own recipes and special meals for his family and friends through the years. His children were the light of his life and he relished the time spent fishing with his children, especially with his son Garrett and the bantering and close bond with his loving daughter Kaitlyn. His children would always bring a smile to his face. He had a special relationship with his nephew Ted Barton and enjoyed their time together. Mark is survived by his loving children Kaitlyn and Garrett, both of Baton Rouge; his former wife, Michelle Barton, Baton Rouge; his parents, Kathleen Barton, Santa Rosa, CA, R Barton, San Rafael; brother Rob (Connie) Barton and nephew Ted Barton, Santa Rosa, Uncle John Richard Mossi (Millie); Rohnert Park and special cousin, Ken (Rebecca) Rovai of Napa; 2nd cousins, Erin (Matt) Flint, Napa, and Godson, Kevin (Shelby) Rovai, Rockland and a special friendship with Tina (Marc) Alves, Santa Rosa. A memorial service and military honors were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, Daniels Chapel of the Roses (707) 525-3730.

Mark was one of my very best friends. Even after we didn't work together, we remained closer than ever. He was always a source of inspiration and positiveness. His character and sense of humor will never be forgotten. I pray his soul is as ongoing as the good memories he left on so many of us. He was a good man....an honest man and he will never be forgotten.

Mark, was more than a great person, he was a great friend. We shared many days hunting, some in the duck blinds, some in the mountains of Montana. We also worked together for the last few years. What a great loss to all his friends and especially his family. He will be dearly missed and my prayers will be with his family daily.
