Oscar Dugas "Lucky" Laine Corde, 93, was born, January 23, 1920 in New Orleans, LA and resided in Napoleonville, LA. He died peacefully at his home early Monday morning, July 15, 2013. A visitation will be held to honor Oscar Corde at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville on Saturday July 20, 2013 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. The burial will follow in the church's cemetery. He attended Napoleonville schools and graduated from Catholic High School in Donaldsonville. He served in World War II in the European theater and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, on the GI bill and became an accountant. He is survived by son, Paul L. Corde and wife Tresa; daughter, Rita Corde Cade and husband Jerry; and daughter, Sister Thérèse of the Holy Face OCD (Kelley Corde). He leaves 5 grandchildren: Stephanie Corde Brescher and husband, Jordy, Ryan Corde, Kristen Corde, Sarah Cade Wade and husband Bill, and Matthew Sean Cade and wife Penny. Mr. Corde also leaves 8 great-grandchildren: Emily, Cameron, Gabrielle, Bailey, Rylee, Brantlee, Jace and Addisyn. Mr. Corde was preceded in death by his birth parents, Louis and Julia Feliu Laine; his adoptive parents, Louis and Enola Clifton Corde; wife, L. Lorraine Kelley Corde; brothers John, Louis, and Joseph Laine, and sister Hazel Laine; an infant daughter, Carol Laine Corde and granddaughter Christina Little. Mr. Corde was an active contributor to the community giving of his time, talent and resources; he was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus; he supported the Napoleonville Fire Department. He served as a town alderman and on the South Central Planning Commission. He retired as tax collector for Assumption Parish in 1985.
