Raymond Zellard Zeppuhar died on June 14, 2013 at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans' Home in Reserve from a lengthy illness. He was born December 22, 1918 in Dallas, Texas and was 94 years old. He grew up in Oklahoma City OK. He was an Army veteran of WWII stationed in Sicily. He flew on B-25s and was a radio operator. When he got back to the states, he went to work in Shreveport LA where he met and married his first love, Josie Batts. They eventually settled in Baton Rouge and raised their two sons. He was retired from General Tire Corporation. He is survived by his sister, Pat Gimlin, Granbury Texas, two sons, Joe Lee Zeppuhar and wife, Sarah, of St. Amant and Pat Cloud Zeppuhar and wife, Laura, of Baton Rouge. Six grandchildren, Chad Lee Zeppuhar , Brandi Sue Zeppuhar Davis and husband Chris (Pookie) Davis, Jarod Cloud Zeppuhar, Lisa Kathryn Zeppuhar, Zane Lee Zeppuhar and Slade Lee Zeppuhar. Three great-grandchildren Lainie Davis, Tanner Lee and Presley Zeppuhar. Preceeded in death by his wife, Josie Bridgette Batts Zeppuhar, Parents Louie and Irma Wood Zeppuhar, brother-in-law, Hoyt Gimlin and long-time friend, Anne Davidson, whom he loved and who was instrumental in introducing him to new friends, travel and golf. He developed a passion for golf in his later years and played five days a week at Webb Golf course with numerous golfing buddies. Ray had a love of sports and was proud of the fact that both of his sons were quarterbacks at Baton Rouge High School. He loved nothing better than to attend the ballgames, dance recitals and other milestones in his children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's lives. He was known for his quick wit and his sense of humor. Those who knew Ray were touched by his generosity and compassion for those in need. Visitation on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 9340 Florida Boulevard from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. with the service beginning at 2:00 pm conducted by Reverend Hawley Wolfe. Burial at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following. Pallbearers will be Chad Zeppuhar, Jarod Zeppuhar, Chris (Pookie) Davis, Ray Carter, Jerry Scott and Charles Graves. Honorary pallbearers are Zane Zeppuhar, Tanner Zeppuhar and Slade Zeppuhar. The family gives special thanks to the staff at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans' home for their care during his time there.
